One Monastic Minute

Prayer Happens Here

The world has gone berserk.
Kids dying of starvation in Gaza, youngsters shot in schools, and Grandparents and Moms gunshot in Church at prayer.
There is war and rumors of war, famine, sickness, cancer, mental illness and our folks and old friends suffering from dementia.
Stabbings, drive-by shootings, drug overdoses, rapes, and terrible violence of every kind . . .

The evil, lying and deceiving enemy is lurking all around and among us.

Pray, each of us, for everyone, everything and everywhere.

The Gospel tells us to pray without ceasing.

(1 Thessalonians 5:17).

FIFTEEN PROMISES OF THE MOST HOLY ROSARY

The Blessed Virgin Mary promised to Saint Dominic and to all who follow that “Whatever you ask in the Rosary will be granted.” She left for all Christians Fifteen Promises to those who recite the Holy Rosary.

Whoever shall faithfully serve me by the recitation of the Rosary, shall receive signal graces.

I promise my special protection and the greatest graces to all those who shall recite the Rosary.

The Rosary shall be a powerful armor against hell, it will destroy vice, decrease sin, and defeat heresies.

The Rosary will cause virtue and good works to flourish; it will obtain for souls the abundant mercy of God; it will withdraw the hearts of men from the love of the world and its vanities, and will lift them to the desire for eternal things. Oh, that souls would sanctify themselves

by this means.

The soul which recommends itself to me by the recitation of the Rosary, shall not perish.

Whoever shall recite the Rosary devoutly, applying himself to the consideration of its sacred mysteries shall never be conquered by misfortune. God will not chastise him in His justice, he shall not perish by an unprovided death; if he be just he shall remain in the grace of God, and become worthy of eternal life.

Whoever shall have a true devotion for the Rosary shall not die without the sacraments of the Church.

Those who are faithful to recite the Rosary shall have during their life and at their death the light of God and the plenititude of His graces; at the moment of death they shall participate in the merits of the saints in paradise.

I shall deliver from Purgatory those who have been devoted to the Rosary.

The faithful children of the Rosary shall merit a high degree of glory in Heaven.

You shall obtain all you ask of me by the recitation of the Rosary.

All those who propagate the Holy Rosary shall be aided by me in their necessities.

I have obtained from my Divine Son that all the advocates of the Rosary shall have for intercessors the entire celestial court during their life and at the hour of death.

All who recite the Rosary are my sons and daughters, and brothers and sisters of my only Son Jesus Christ.

Devotion of my Rosary is a great sign of predestination.

We all have chores and responsibilities.

Do them, and pray while you do.

For everyone, everything and everywhere.

What is Done Here

Summed up in a single word – prayer –

is what is done here.

When something goes wrong in the world, I hit my knees. A shooting in a school or Church,

an airplane crash, a bus or train accident,

a massive earthquake or even a shipwreck.

And any other calamity.

Prayer requests come from a wounded spouse who has lost their mate, of parents of children who are dying of a terrible disease, of Moms and Dads of victims of suicide or overdose, or children of an old Mom or Dad slowly losing their mind to dementia.

Jesus responds to pleas and supplications we call intercessory prayer. You ask me to pray, I do. I keep confidences, and I am passionate about serving. I have never turned anyone away.

And there are the horrible stories of addiction to gambling, porn, drugs and all the other aberrations of normal life.

My Radical Approach to Serving

“I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people—for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness.”

(I Timothy 2:1-2)
Prayer is a powerful act of faith, intercession, and unity among believers. When we lift our voices in prayer, we seek God’s help for our least brothers, our least sisters and ourselves, we literally stand in the gap for our communities, the Church, our leaders, and the world.
The Suscipe prayer, also known as

Offering of St. Ignatius Loyola,

is a prayer of surrender and self-giving.
“Take, Lord, and receive all my liberty, my memory, my understanding, and my entire will. All I have and call my own. You have given all to me. To you, Lord, I return it. Everything is yours; do with it what you will. Give me only your love and your grace, that is enough for me.”

It is a radical expression of self-giving and trust in God alone.

Don’t Let Jesus Walk Away!

There’s been prophetic visions that when Carlo Acutis is canonized, that end time prophecies will begin to be fulfilled and God will send out the Holy Spirit into the world. It is supposed to be one of several triggers that sets end time events in motion.

Many visionaries and seers in the Church have been talking about the importance of these last months of the year.

Society’s Wounded Victims

I am a longtime radical solitary.

I believe in radical prayer that produces stunning, instant and staggering results.

Today, we usually think being a radical means being contrarian or denouncing the world just for the sake of it. But to be radical is to be rooted—from the Latin radix, a root—and so to be a Catholic radical, is to be rooted deep in the essential traditions and practices of the Church. It is not to be a strange, marginal, or fringe Catholic—it is to be fully Catholic. It is to go to the root of one’s own life and to be transformed into Christ’s image at the deepest level. It simply doesn’t get any more radical than that.
